Why Clove St Press?
What makes Clove St Press different than other shops is the craftsman’s hands and eyes. Every business card, invitation, poster is printed and inspected for constancy and quality. Other shops, where machines and robots do the printing, the mark of the artist is hard to find, but here at Clove St Press you will know that an artist had control over every step of the process. When Clove St Press does your prints, you have the assurance and guarantee that every print you receive is of the highest quality.
Why letterpress?
Simply, because letterpress printing is different…good different. This process is not just another Kinko’s color copy, it creates paper sculptures of typography and symbols. Each and every print is a work of art and through the hand crafted process, it earns the respect of all who see and touch it.
Letterpress vs Digital
If digital printing is commonplace. It is used by everyone who sends out junkmail, probably the same sick people who send out spam email. Letterpress is extraordinary. The luxurious cotton paper we print on takes on a sculptural quality once printed. It will create a unique experience with the recipient and guarantee more engagement with your business cards than the ones from V***a Print. When you order prints from Clove St Press, you are not simply ordering a disposable product, you are commissioning artwork.
What about design?
Since Gutenberg there has been some great advances in technology, like antibiotics, iPhones, and the most significant – photopolymer plates. We can now create a letterpress plate from any digital file made up of text, solid shapes and halftone images.
